Unibank took part in Impact Executive Training “ESG Transformation for Financial Service Providers”

During the training participants learned the fundamentals of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and discussed how to transform corporate strategy for long-term success. Topics included sustainability, climate risks, and their impact on firms, as well as balancing the integration of Net Zero goals and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in ESG strategies. The sessions also included a practical component—simulated exercises and interactive games that challenged the leaders to find solutions in alignment with ESG principles and sustainability practices, applying the knowledge they gained during the training. Through interactive discussions and role-playing exercises, participants learned how to effectively convey their institution’s commitment to ESG principles to stakeholders, thereby improving trust and enhancing their corporate reputation. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to witness ESG in action during a field visit to the sustainable and eco-friendly rice terraces.
To emphasize the importance of integration of ESG international best practices in Bank’s current operations and development, Unibank’s Supervisory Board launched a dedicated project aimed at implementing the ESG standards and improving corporate governance and culture; the projects is carried out by the experienced international consulting companies. The management of Unibank has always shown its responsible attitude towards the planet by creating convenient life conditions and improving the life quality of the population. In terms of business model evolution and the experience got from business activity, Unibank does not finance the projects with high social and environmental risks; at the same time, the Bank stands among the major players on retail lending market, contributing so to improve the standard living conditions of the population.
Unibank strives to ensure that at least 80% of the loan portfolio complies with "green" funding criteria, contributes to women's entrepreneurship expansion, financing renewable energy and the projects focused on energy efficiency and modernization of production sectors. Unibank’s team is constantly improving its faster payments system to provide its customers with a safe and fast solution for international money transfers. In recent years, Unibank could reduce the impact on the environment by switching the corporate car fleet to electric vehicles and providing its data processing center functioning from a solar power. The fast and wide spreading of digital technologies made possible a broad provision of mobile banking applications for the customers; the implementation of electronic document handling in internal document circulation contributed to the reduction of paper consumption by a half.
As a part of a healthy lifestyle promotion and encouragement from the management, Unibank actively sponsors various sport events and tournaments, moreover, without making additional advertising, the bank participates in charity and educational programs.
Every year the Fintech360 International Conference held in Yerevan with the Unibank support, dedicates one of its panel discussions to ESG and sustainable development. Then, the Robust Armenia Conference was held for the first time under the title "Sustainable Development, ESG: Global Agenda, Local Needs” with a slogan “Sustainable Development in An Unstable Environment ", which was also supported by Unibank.
The bank fosters human rights’ protection and provides equal working conditions, excluding any discrimination by gender. As a result, more than 40% of management positions at Unibank are held by women, moreover, women are present in both Unibank’s Supervisory Board and Management Board.

As a part of a Social component of ESG, a health insurance package has been introduced for all employees at Unibank.
To ensure a continuous improvement and development of highly professional employees and so to contribute to their personal and professional growth, Unibank finances the participation of its employees in international and local events, training courses and conferences, encourages the employees to get international certifications and qualifications.
